JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) will build an off-grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in 16 locations in the archipelago of Sumenep Regency. The construction of this PLTS is expected so that people immediately enjoy electricity and improve their standard of living.

Klebun (Village Head) Sadulang, Hendro was very happy when he heard that PLN would enter Sadulang Kecil.

"Currently we use generators and the cost is very expensive, if PLN electricity has entered, we can use the savings obtained to increase the productivity of residents," said Hendro in his statement, Monday, October 10.

The construction of the PLTS was marked by the signing of a development cooperation carried out by the General Manager of the PLN Distribution Main Unit (UID) of East Java, Lasiran with the President Director of PT Rekadaya Electrica, Jonner MP Pardosi at the PJB Connect event on Tuesday, October 4.

Lasiran hopes that the construction process of the PLTS off grid and electricity grid will run smoothly without any problems so that the presence of PLN can provide a multiplier effect for the community's economy.

"Hopefully it will be finished according to the plan, there will be people this year so that people in the islands can immediately enjoy electricity and be able to improve their standard of living there," said Lasiran.

These environmentally friendly plants are spread over 16 locations including Bulumanuk, Bunginnyrat, Gili manduk, Karamian, Pajangan, Sadulang Kecil, Sapapan, Saredeng Besar, Saredeng Kecil, Saseel, Saur, Sepangkur Kecil, Talanggo Air, Central Talanggo, Kalosot, Sitabok with a total power of 975 KWp.

"All of these islands or hamlets are in Sumenep Regency, indeed our focus has been on accelerating electrification in the post-pandemic archipelago, because previously they were constrained during the pandemic. The potential customers in these 16 areas are 8,434 customers," said Lasiran.

Currently, people in the island area are still using generators that make people's economic burdens increase. After electricity comes, it is hoped that the community can increase their productivity and of course at affordable prices.

Gradually, the construction of a total electricity grid of 52,473 kilometers (kms) will begin in 2024 after the PLTS construction project is completed in 2023.

President Director of PT Rekadaya Electrica, Jonner MP Pardosi revealed that the signing of the contract for the construction of PLTS is an implementation of the active role of PT Rekadaya Electrica, towards the Indonesian Government's plan to increase the role of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) in the national energy mix, which is targeted to reach 23 percent by 2025.

"PT Rekadaya Electrica as the only EPC in the PLN Group is ready to complete the mandate given and committed to completing the project on time. So that more and more isolated and remote islands get electricity through EBT-based plants," he explained.
