JAKARTA - Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono said the third Sherpa meeting in Yogyakarta would focus on discussing the draft "leaders declaration" of 39 parties who will attend the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.

The 39 parties consist of 20 G20 member countries, as well as 9 countries, and 10 international invited organizations.

"So any meeting called the G20, which amounted to 437 meetings, was compiled, consolidated, submitted at the Sherpa meeting which is now taking place in Yogyakarta. From there it will be compiled in the form of draft leaders declaration which will be discussed and adopted during the summit," Susi said at an online press conference quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 27.

He said the 437 meetings that have been held at the G20 Indonesia Presidency so far consist of 184 official meetings and 253 side events.

Through the Sherpa track, G20 countries conduct discussions related to issues outside of financial problems, including agriculture, trade, industry, investment, digital economy, gender equality, and youth.

Discussions are divided into meetings managed by 12 working groups and 10 engagement groups.

In the third herpa meeting, every discussion carried out by working group and engagement group will be discussed to be used as a draft leaders declaration which will be agreed in the Summit in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.

The third meeting of the Sherpa Track is expected to run conducively, efficiently, and result in an agreement that leaders declaration can be approved at the summit in Bali in November 2022.

"A series of previous Sherpa meetings, usually the dynamics are extraordinary. Hopefully here it can be conducive so that an agreement is reached, a consensus is reached so that the draft leader declaration can be agreed later in the G20 Summit," he said.

He said that in the third meeting of the Sherpa Track, only one delegation asked to attend virtually, but most of them were physically present because the COVID-19 pandemic was under control in Indonesia and each delegation wanted to ensure that they produced leaders declaration with the best substance.

"Because of the importance of the substance of the discussion at the Sherpa Track which will be brought as leaders declaration at the G20 Summit, each country sent Sherpa and its best team to have discussions and discussions about the main points of the substance of its leaders declaration," he said.
