JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) supports the government's move to enforce the policy of ownership of business identification numbers (NIB) for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

BNI's Director of Institutional Banking Sis Apik Wijayanto said it was one of the segments that supported Indonesia's economy.

"Through NIB, MSMEs have a greater opportunity to advance to class," he said in a written statement on Tuesday, September 20.

According to Sis Apik, this strategy is a direct direction from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to encourage the ease of registering for business permits through the Online Single Submission (OSS).

"For this reason, we together with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) continue to provide socialization and guidance to business actors in order to accelerate the registration of their business licenses," he said.

Sis Apik added, NIB is an initial requirement for business actors to obtain other important documents such as Company Register Signs (TDP), Import Introduction Numbers (API), and even customs access for business actors will carry out export and import activities.

"With more MSME actors with NIB, we hope that micro-enterprises can advance to class sooner because the legality is now the basis for applying for financing to banks, such as people's business loans (KUR)," he added.

It was explained that without the legality of the NIB, access to finance would be more difficult. For this reason, he urges MSMEs to get NIB at least 50 percent of the total current.

We ourselves have a strategic program for MSMEs, such as support for capacity building and quality production, education in the preparation of financial reports, and support for access to marketing products abroad through business matching with buyers in the global market. Through this, MSMEs are expected to be able to become a buffer for the nation's national economic growth," he said.

On the same occasion, the Deputy for Investment Services at the Ministry of Investment, Achmad Idrus, welcomed BNI's initiative in the success of government programs.

Bank institutions are important variables or one of the stakeholders in national economic growth. I would like to thank BNI and it is hoped that it can continue to participate as one of the stakeholders of economic growth," he said.

Idrus said that 98 percent of NIB issued through OSS was obtained by a small and medium enterprise group. This breaks the assumption that managing a business license is a complicated and time-consuming thing.

"Of course, this collaboration will further help MSME actors. So far, the process of obtaining legality is indeed complicated, so many do not have registration to become formal businesses," he concluded.
