Have A Factory In Pasuruan And Jombang, South Korea Company Uses 162,490 MWh Green Electricity PLN

JAKARTA - The food and biotechnology industry from South Korea, namely PT Cheil Jedang Indonesia Site Pasuruan and PT Cheil Jedang Indonesia Site Jombang, signed an agreement to use a new renewable energy certificate (EBT) or Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) service.

The agreement with Cheil Jedang Indonesia Site Pasuruan has a potential purchase of 110,490 RECs or the equivalent of 110,490 MWh. Meanwhile, with Cheil Jedang Indonesia Site Jombang as many as 52,000 units or the equivalent of 52,000 MWh. So that the total green electricity used by Cheil Jedang in the two sites reached 162.40 MWh

Associate Director of Administration Cheil Jedang Indonesia Site Pasuruan Imam Nachrowi said his company continues to pay attention to environmental issues in the development of its products so far. One of them is by utilizing services from the PLN REC.

"Companies we already have certification A for ESG (Environment Social Governance) where one of them is the release of carbon must be controlled. This is our step, CJI Site Pasuruan and Jombang are diverted using energy using EBT, because our market is 60 percent in Europe, and if in Europe it will be subject to an emission tax, then that is the reason we use the REC," Imam explained in a statement to the media, Friday, September 16.

He also appreciated PLN's services and expressed his gratitude for the reliable electricity supply by PLN for years.

General Manager of PLN's Java Distribution Main Unit (UID) East Java, Lasiran explained, with the REC service customers will receive recognition from the international community that the company has used renewable energy. Each unit of REC represents one MWh of electricity used comes from a green energy plant.

"In East Java, until August 2022, 22 customers have been supplied with green energy through the purchase of 155,443 REC units. On this occasion it will increase with PT Cheil Jedang Indonesia Site Jombang and PT Chiel Jedang Indonesia Site Pasuruan, of course this shows the company's commitment to encouraging the energy transition through the use of clean energy," explained Lasiran.

He added that the benefits that customers get with REC are obtaining procurement options to meet the target of 100 percent of the use of EBT which is transparent and internationally recognized, and without spending investment costs on infrastructure development.

"With clean energy supply, PT Cheil Jedang Indonesia can focus more on improving the company's operations," he concluded.
