BPS: The Number Of Passengers On East Kalimantan Domestic Aircraft For The January-July 2022 Period Increased By 59.80 Percent

SAMARINDA - The number of passengers on domestic air transportation in East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) during the first semester of 2022 or the January-July 2022 period rose significantly to 1,174,819 people, an increase of 59.80 percent compared to January-July 2021 which was recorded at 735,171 people.

"This many passengers come from six airports (airports) in six regencies/cities, namely Samarinda, Balikpapan, Bontang, Berau, West Kutai, and Mahakam Ulu," said Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Kalimantan Province, Yusniar Juliana, quoted from Antara, Monday, September 5.

The increase occurred because this year COVID-19 cases have continued to decline since January 2022, so the government provides concessions to people who want to go outside the region, both those who use sea, land, and air transportation vehicles.

Meanwhile, the details of the number of passengers as many as 1,174,819 people, including passengers departing from Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport (SAMS) Sepinggan Balikpapan as many as 894,168 people.

The number of passengers from Balikpapan increased significantly enough to reach 78.96 percent, compared to the January-July 2021 period which was recorded at 499,659 passengers.

Specifically in July 2022, he continued, there were 145,182 passengers departing from Balikpapan, a decrease of 2.45 percent compared to the previous month's 148,776 passengers.

He continued, for domestic passengers departing from Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Airport (APT) Pranoto Samarinda January-July 2022 as many as 210,583 people, up 27.60 percent compared to January-July 2021 which was recorded at 165,028 people.

"Then from Kalimau Airport, Berau Regency as many as 64,190 passengers, there was a decrease of 5.39 percent compared to the January-July 2021 period, which was 67,850 passengers," said Yusniar.

Next is the passenger departing from Badak Bontang Airport in January-July 2022 as many as 3,390 people, there was a fairly high increase of up to 283.58 percent compared to January-July 2021 which recorded 962 passengers.
