JAKARTA - The taxi company belonging to the conglomerate Purnomo Prawiro, PT Blue Bird Tbk (BIRD) targets an additional 4,000 to 5,000 taxi units by the end of 2022.

Blue Bird President Director Sigit Priawan Djokosoetono said the target was in line with the company's efforts to execute vehicle rejuvenation for this year. This is done for the sake of flexibility of demand in the market.

"We have the flexibility to rejuvenate faster or maintain vehicles that are in accordance with the demand," said Sigit at the Blue Bird Performance Measurement event, some time ago.

Furthermore, Sigit said, every year the company can sell 2,500 - 3,000 used taxi cars. Currently, the taxi company is balancing the availability and demand of used cars.

According to Sigit, rejuvenation by selling cars can provide an increase in capital gains per car.

"So the company can record an increase in sales of IDR 25.8 billion in the first half of 2022," explained Sigit.

As is known, BIRD posted the highest revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic period, or up 48 percent of IDR 1.54 trillion, which is almost equivalent to the company's revenue during the pre-pandemic period.

The net profit achieved by the company in the first half of this year was IDR 148 billion, aka skyrocketed by 593 percent yoy.
