JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga emphasized that the program to purchase bulk cooking oil using the PeduliLindung application was carried out but should not make it difficult for the public to obtain it.

This was conveyed by the Vice Minister of Trade during a working visit at the Aurduri Market in Jambi City, Saturday 6 August.

The Vice Minister of Trade said that this program is expected to make it easier for people to buy bulk oil and through this program it is hoped that it will not interfere with the activities of traders.

"I think it is a program, the important thing is that it is easy for the community to administer it in an orderly manner and not interfere with trading activities," said Jerry Sambuaga, quoted from Antara, Sunday 7 August.

The Ministry of Trade will continue to monitor the prices of basic commodities in the market together with local governments to stabilize prices and ensure supply.

He said, with the program, it is hoped that the people who get the bulk oil are really the people who need it.

"What is the goal, to be right on target and also to ensure that people get the cooking oil. The point is that everything is orderly, safe and smooth," he said.

Meanwhile, Edi, a bulk oil trader in Jambi's Auduri market, said that people who buy bulk oil in their place do not have to use the Peduli Protect application.

"We don't use the Protect Care application, we serve people who come here directly and we sell bulk oil for Rp. 14,000 per liter, because we get it from agents for Rp. 13,000 per kilogram, while packaged oil is still expensive.

He hopes that the arrival of the Vice Minister of Trade will increase the price of palm oil, but bulk oil is still affordable.

"We ask for high palm oil prices, bulk oil ropes are still cheap. If palm oil prices are expensive, the economy will increase, the market is a bit crowded, but if palm oil prices are cheap, the market is quiet," he complained.
