JAKARTA - From April 2020 to June 2022, the Pre-Employment Card Program recorded 13.4 million beneficiaries throughout Indonesia. The program is President Joko Widodo's 2019 campaign promise.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the number was not just a number. The Pre-Employment Card program effectively carries out a dual mission, both to improve skills and to protect the community.

"This number is not just a number. But it is an extraordinary human resource," he said in a webinar entitled 'Two Years of Traveling Pre-Employment Cards to Transform Public Services: Achievements, Lessons, Future Strategies', Wednesday 27 July.

The recipients of the Pre-Employment Card Program come from all districts/cities in Indonesia. Starting from Merauke Regency as many as 16,908 people, Sabang 1,653 people, to the Talaud Islands as many as 2,924 people.

Airlangga said that the Pre-Employment Card participants were almost evenly matched between men and women including those with disabilities, parents and participants with elementary school education (SD).

With the number of participants, Airlangga continued, the pre-employment card program proved to be inclusive, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda, namely Leave No One Behind.

Airlangga also said that several independent surveys showed program participants were satisfied with the training taken and satisfied with the non-cash method with many payment options used in the Pre-Employment Card Program.

"Good results are the fruit of a series of good processes. There are basic principles behind the implementation process. First, the Pre-Employment Card Program is a data-based policy. Over the past two years, there have been 11 million beneficiaries who have answered evaluation surveys so that we know their perception and can make changes if the data supports it," he said.
