JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir gives full support to the Attorney General's Office (AGO) in investigating cases in state-owned companies.

One of them is a case that is currently being handled at PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara or PLN (Persero).

Erick also positively welcomed the firm steps taken by the AGO which had named four suspects in the investigation into allegations of corruption and misappropriation of development funds by PT Waskita Beton Precast and opened a new investigation related to allegations of corruption in the procurement of PLN transmission towers in 2016 worth Rp2.25 trillion.

He admitted that he wanted to fix SOEs, one of which was the SOE clean-up program.

However, he stressed, the program will not only fix the business aspect, but also the legal aspect.

"Of course from the start, we at the Ministry of SOEs have continued to synergize and collaborate with the AGO. The Attorney General and I have the same vision in the BUMN clean-up program," Erick said on Wednesday, July 27.

Erick said that the Ministry of BUMN and the Attorney General's Office often shared the progress of a number of cases that occurred in BUMN, such as the case at PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero).

According to Erick, a number of case disclosures in BUMN can be concrete evidence of the government's seriousness in fixing BUMN.

Erick admitted that he would not tolerate any actions that were detrimental to the state and society.

"BUMN as the driver of a third of our economy has a vital role, if the management is not right, it is corrupted, it is not only the state-owned company that loses, but also the community and the state," he said.

Erick hopes that the collaboration between the Ministry of SOEs and the AGO can continue to increase.

The Ministry of SOEs, continued Erick, is always open to cooperating with many parties in improving SOEs.

Furthermore, Erick stressed, the Ministry of SOEs certainly needs support from many parties, including law enforcement officials to other technical ministries.

"We no longer want SOEs to become ivory towers, this is the era of collaboration, that's the reason that from the beginning we and the Attorney General's Office have continued to collaborate in solving a number of problems that exist in SOEs," said Erick.
