JAKARTA - The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has increased the status of law enforcement on cooking oil cases from the investigation stage to the filing stage.

Thus, the case can be continued to the next stage, namely the Preliminary Examination Council Session.

The upgrade of the status of the case was decided in the Commission Meeting which was held on Wednesday, July 20 at the KPPU Head Office, Jakarta.

For information, KPPU started to investigate the case on March 30, 2022, with registration number No. 03-16/DH/KPPU.LID.I/III/2022 concerning Alleged Violations of Law No. 5 of 1999 (Law 5/99) regarding the Production and Marketing of Cooking Oil in Indonesia.

Director of Investigation, Gopprera Panggabean, said to complement the existing evidence, KPPU has summoned parties related to the allegations, such as cooking oil producers, associations, retail players, and so on.

"From the investigation process, KPPU has pocketed at least 2 types of evidence, so it is concluded that it is appropriate to proceed to the filing stage", said Gopprera, quoted on Thursday, July 21.

Based on the results of the investigation, Gopprera continued, KPPU noted that 27 reported parties in the case allegedly violated two articles in Law 5/1999, namely Article 5 concerning price fixing and Article 19 letter c concerning restrictions on the circulation or sale of goods/services.
