JAKARTA - Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan asked his staff to immediately bring simple packaged cooking oil with the brand "Oilita" to markets in Balikpapan.

"Mr. Head of the Service, please immediately communicate with the Director General (relevant) so that Oilita gets here, quickly and immediately," said the Trade Minister on the sidelines of his visit to Balikpapan, Wednesday 20 July.

Based on his monitoring, the Oilita, which is sold for Rp. 14,000 per liter, has not yet entered the market in Balikpapan.

"Minyakita will soon be produced, printed, will soon be entered in Balikpapan," said the Trade Minister.

On that occasion, Zulkifli also said that the traders in the Klandasan Market were reluctant to use bulk cooking oil, because they were afraid of its safety.

To that end, the Minister of Trade asked the Director General of Domestic Trade to educate the public about the safety of using bulk cooking oil.

"Later, the Director General will explain and coordinate to the public that the bulk oil is high in vitamins, healthy, good, very safe and suitable for consumption," said Zulhas.

To note, Oilita was officially launched on Wednesday 6 July and is sold for Rp. 14,000 per liter or according to the Highest Retail Price (HET) set by the government.

Oilita will be distributed to partners of the Ministry of Trade in various regions, especially the eastern region.

He also ensures that MinyaKita is safe for consumption because it is in accordance with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

Oil distribution is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 41 of 2022 concerning the Governance of People's Packaged Cooking Oil which is effective from 8 July 2022.

The regulation is related to the government rolling out the People's Packaged Cooking Oil (MGKR) program with the Oilita brand, involving business actors.

The Minister of Trade Regulation regulates the selling price according to HET, the distribution site, the form of packaging, fulfillment of distribution permits and standards, as well as incentives for packaging multiplier factors for business actors who provide Oilita packaged cooking oil.

According to Zulkifli, the MGKR program with Oilita aims to provide an alternative for business actors in distributing cooking oil to fulfill domestic market obligation (DMO) needs.
