JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has officially received approval for an injection of State Capital Participation (PMN) funds worth Rp. 10 trillion in 2023 from Commission VI of the DPR RI.

President Director of PT PLN Persero Darmawan Prasodjo said that this PMN fund disbursement will be used to optimize electricity supply in Java, Madura, Bali through infrastructure development with a budget of Rp. 2 trillion.

In addition, as much as IDR 4.5 trillion will be allocated by PLN to build transmission lines that connect hydropower plants to remote areas in Kalimantan.

PLN has also budgeted IDR 3.5 trillion to build new and renewable energy plants based on PLTM, PLTA, PLTMG and transmissions that connect electricity in remote areas.

Darmawan explained that the electricity infrastructure currently used to serve 3T areas requires a very high investment cost per customer.

The required investment reaches IDR 25-45 million per customer.

With this high investment, the development of electricity infrastructure is not feasible.

"For this reason, the existence of PMN is a form of state presence, where PLN will make it happen by building energy infrastructure throughout the archipelago, especially underdeveloped, remote areas and is the embodiment of Indonesia's sovereignty on borders between countries," Darmawan told the media, Tuesday, July 5.

Previously, PLN had also received PMN disbursement since 2020 with absorption reaching IDR 4.7 trillion until the first quarter of this year. This realization reached 95 percent of the total PMN funds received by PLN.

Furthermore, the realization of PMN 2021 until the first quarter of this year has absorbed IDR 4 trillion or 80 percent of the total PMN funds that have been received.

In increasing the electrification ratio and achieving equitable energy for all Indonesian people, until this year PLN has taken a corporate action of Rp. 196.8 billion to increase the electrification ratio.

Currently, PLN has recorded the realization of the electrification ratio of electrified villages in total of 99.7 percent, but from this figure, there are still villages that are electrified independently and have not yet enjoyed PLN's electricity, so the electrification ratio is 90.78 percent.

To be able to reach 100 percent PLN still needs an additional budget of Rp. 17.96 trillion, with details for the Java Madura Bali region of Rp. 2.03 trillion.

Meanwhile, Sumatra and Kalimantan need Rp. 9.93 trillion, Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Papua need Rp. 6 trillion.
