Celebrating 76th Anniversary, BNI Reaffirms Commitment To Working On Global Markets

JAKARTA – PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) emphasized that the momentum of the 76th anniversary is meant to improve performance in working on international markets.

BNI President Commissioner Agus Dermawan Wintarto Martowardojo said that from the start the company was designed as a state bank with international specialists and with global capacity.

"Happy 76th anniversary of Bank Negara Indonesia. Today is also one of the historical records that we should be proud of," he said in a press statement on Tuesday, July 5.

According to Agus, since its establishment on July 5, 1946, BNI has served as the circulation bank or the state-owned central bank of the Republic of Indonesia.

Then in 1955, BNI operated as a commercial bank and immediately took on the role of a bank with foreign capabilities through the opening of a Singapore branch. Four years later, the company expanded its reach through representative offices in Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong.

"BNI works for Indonesia in supporting economic recovery after the pandemic, so that it can jump higher and make BNI stronger and grow sustainably," he said.

On the same occasion, BNI President Director Royke Tumilaar said that recently his party had opened a branch office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands to help penetrate the export market in several countries in the European region.

"In order to further expand our network to capture foreign potentials and still have plans to open more branches in the future," he said.

Meanwhile, the target customers include the corporate, commercial and small business segments as well as startups, including foreign businesses who have business partners in Indonesia.

Then, Indonesian businessmen whose business reach abroad or have business groups abroad, as well as representatives of the Indonesian government who are abroad and also the Indonesian diaspora.

In terms of performance, the issuer with stock code BBNI recorded a growth in export transaction volume of 30.6 percent during January-May 2022. Meanwhile, the total credit for overseas branches was stated to reach US$3.9 billion. This figure is up 18 percent on an annual basis (year on year / yoy).
