SUMEDANG - Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo reviewed the implementation of vaccination for livestock in Sumedang Regency, West Java.

The implementation of this vaccination is a series of treatments in suppressing foot and mouth disease (FMD).

At the same time, ensuring that livestock in the area are healthy ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations.

"In addition to optimizing vaccinations for livestock, the government also continues to treat and spray cages with disinfectant as an effort to suppress FMD transmission," he said in an official statement, Sunday, July 3.

Syahrul is grateful that livestock, especially cattle infected with FMD in the area, have now recovered.

"Alhamdulillah, 98 percent of the cows recovered from the treatment are here. The bottom line is that all of these efforts are the orders of the President and we at the Ministry of Agriculture together with the regional government will work hard," he said.

According to him, based on available data, the total number of cows that have recovered from the FMD outbreak has reached 629. Meanwhile, 9 dead cows and 39 forced beef cattle. The total number of cows affected by FMD reached 1,800 heads.
