Encouraging The Community To Use Natural Gas, PGN Explains A Number Of Benefits

JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk is expanding the use of natural gas fuel for the household sector and commercial businesses in the southern part of Central Java Province and the Special Region (DI) of Yogyakarta.

PGN Director of Sales and Operations Faris Aziz said the use of natural gas has many advantages, including being more practical, because gas is channeled using pipes so that it is more space-efficient and practical to use.

"If the customer is located far from the gas distribution pipeline, PGN will serve with a non-pipeline mode, namely the compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) model," Fariz said in a written statement, Thursday, June 16.

Another advantage, he said, is that natural gas supply is always available with guaranteed quality, so customers don't have to worry about running out of gas because it is available 24 hours and 7 days.

Meanwhile, payment for usage is also practical online, such as through Tokopedia, Gopay, Shopee, and LinkAja, and information on gas usage can be viewed through the PGN Mobile application.

"During usage, the measurement is recorded accurately in the system automatically and the gas used is what is paid for. So, gas payments are enough once a month spanning the 6th to the 20th, according to the usage recorded in the system," added Faris.

In terms of price, Faris explained that with PGN's natural gas, customers can save 20-25 percent compared to cylinder gas or LPG.

"The equipment used in the gas network is also guaranteed to be safe and complete, because it conforms to standards and is installed by certified technicians. In addition, we carry out routine network maintenance for the convenience of users," he said.

Not only used by households, but gas can also be used by business or commercial actors such as boilers, ovens, stoves, rice cookers, water heaters, and laundry equipment.

"PGN has Gaslink products as a mode of distribution of non-pipeline natural gas in the form of CNG for the commercial sector such as restaurants, industry, hotels, shopping centers, hospitals, and offices," said Faris.

As a fossil fuel, the largest content of natural gas is methane (CH4) at 92 percent.

Natural Gas is one of the safest, cleanest, and environmentally friendly fuels, as it produces less pollution than other fossil fuels such as oil and coal.

According to him, household gas also has the advantage of being safer because it has a pressure below 100 millibars or is in the low-pressure category.

If a leak occurs, he continued, there is no need to panic. The first step is to close the gas tap and open a window or vent, so that the gas will immediately decompose in the air.

PGN targets the construction of a gas network (jargas) of four million house connections (SR) by 2024. This national strategic program is also part of the President's Nawa Cita to realize energy sovereignty.
