JAKARTA - PT Bank Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA) is said to have just completed the construction of a new environmentally friendly building Wisma BCA Foresta in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) area.

SVP Logistics and Building BCA Victor Teguh Sutedja said the construction of this building was carried out in collaboration with consultants from Singapore.

"This is the first time we want to build a building but we are also cooperating with an energy consultant," he said when met at BSD on Thursday, June 16.

According to Victor, the construction of this building is quite expensive compared to ordinary buildings. However, the operational costs will be much cheaper.

"Actually, in constructing this building, we have not been able to determine exactly how much it will cost because there is no reference on how the costs are for an environmentally friendly building. It is bigger to build this building, but the operational costs are lower," he said.

Victor said Wisma BCA Foresta has many advantages, such as the provision of charging stations for electric vehicles, the use of building glass that can regulate the intensity of light, to the use of drinking water that is centralized so that it does not require bottled water.

"At Wisma BCA Foresta, the window opening is calculated because it will affect the room temperature regulation," he said explaining the 45,000 square meter building.

On the same occasion, BCA Corporate Secretary Hera F. Haryn revealed that the environmentally friendly concept that has been applied in all operational activities has contributed significantly to the environment.

"The environmentally friendly concept applied at BCA can contribute equivalent to 888 tons of CO2 equivalent," he said.

Hera added that currently there are 71 BCA buildings throughout Indonesia that have implemented the green principle.

"It's not as complete and comprehensive as Wisma Foresta, but we have started towards environmentally friendly buildings. We are not targeting how many buildings will be built for the green concept, but the direction is clear because we support sustainable development," he explained.
