Despite COVID-19 Pandemic, Central Kalimantan's Economic Growth Grows Positively

PALANGKARAYA - Economic growth in Central Kalimantan Province continues to grow positively despite the COVID-19 pandemic, starting from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022.

Central Kalimantan's economy has continued to grow positively since the end of 2021, namely in the fourth quarter of 2021 it grew 7.61 percent, and in the first quarter of 2022, Central Kalimantan's economic growth remained high at 7.32 percent (YoY).

"The high economic growth was supported by export performance which grew by 14.76 percent, and from the business field, the mining sector grew 26.80 percent," said Central Kalimantan Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo as quoted by Antara, Monday, June 6.

Then other aspects of development, the quality of welfare and independence of the people of Central Kalimantan also show an increase from year to year.

The poverty rate is 5.16 percent, the Gini ratio is 0.32 percent, and the open unemployment rate is 4.20 percent, better than the national average.

"Alhamdulillah, although we are still in the pandemic period, with the spirit of togetherness and good synergy, Central Kalimantan's economic growth is also good," said Edi.

To spur economic growth in Central Kalimantan, said Edy, his party remains focused on developing the potential of natural resources and supporting regional tourism.

In addition, the provincial government (provincial government) will encourage the acceleration of regional investment and the development of the National Strategic Program (PSN) in Central Kalimantan which will have an impact on the regional economy such as food estate.

In order for these strategic development programs to run well and be successful, he continued, they need support and synergy from all stakeholders.
