Helping Fishermen Access Electricity, PLN Establishes ALMA At Balong Sabang Port

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) presents an independent electric platform (ALMA) to make it easier for business actors in the fisheries and marine sectors to get access to electricity.

This time, PLN presents ALMA with a power of 23,000 volt amperes (VA) to support business actors at the Balohan Port of Sabang, Aceh.

The existence of ALMA will meet the needs of ship lighting, mini cold storage, air conditioners and other electrical power needs when the ship rests on the dock.

Previously, ships at Sabang's Balohan Port still used diesel power as an energy source.

General Manager of PLN UIW Aceh Parulian Noviandri said, the implementation of ALMA is PLN's innovation in the electrifying marine sector which is a manifestation of the transformation of the customer focus and innovative pillar to improve electricity services that are easier, affordable and reliable.

"We are optimistic that the presence of ALMA at the port can certainly support the operational cost efficiency of fishing boats and tourism boats that lean on so that it can have implications for improving the community's economy," said Noviandri in a statement to the media, Monday, May 30.

The presence of ALMA, he said, made the use of captive power to be minimized from the customer's point of view.

That way, the implementation of this electric ATM can really support economic growth in the maritime sector.

"For this reason, ALMA is here for ships that are leaning to change the pattern of usage based on fuel engines to electricity-based ones," he concluded.

Meanwhile, General Manager of River, Lake and Ferry Transportation (ASDP) Agus Djoko Triyanto thanked PLN for the realization of the installation of ALMA at the Balohan Port of Sabang.

Djoko added, from the operational aspect, ALMA can increase efficiency.

Meanwhile, in terms of lifetime, spare parts, and engine oil changes are longer because there is no need to start the engine when the ship is leaning.

"The presence of ALMA at the Balohan Sabang Port is expected to continue to serve all electricity needs and support business activities, especially for the operation of ships that dock at ports," he said.
