JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has stated that it will not terminate employment (PHK) for employees following the entry of the digitalization era in the banking industry.

"BRI with digitalization does not lay off employees. BRI permanent employees will warn the public to secure their accounts from digital crimes," said President Director of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Sunarso to reporters, Friday, May 13.

However, said Sunarso, employees affected by digitalization will get other tasks as assistants or digital banking extension workers to the public.

"BRI can indeed digitize all of its banking services, but not with customers. Not all (customers) are ready for the digitization process," said Sunarso.

Furthermore, Sunarso revealed, BRI targets Ultra Micro Holding, which consists of BRI, PT Pegadaian, and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), to serve 5 million new customers in the ultra micro segment by 2022.

Holding Ultra Micro aims to serve as many people as possible, especially in the ultra micro segment, so that BRI is slowly targeting 55 million new customers.

To achieve this target, Holding Ultra Mikro already has 143 Smile co-locations which are targeted to increase to 1,000 by 2023.

"Then we also want the head of the Mekaar recipient group from PNM, totaling 60,000, to be recruited as a BRILink agent," he said.

For your information, currently BRILink agents have reached 500,000 which will soon be added with the help of the Madani Brigade Team, which is a joint team of the three Ultra Micro Holding business entities.
