JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has officially issued a policy to ban exports of crude palm oil (CPO) and cooking oil products which will take effect on Thursday, April 28.
In response to this policy, the Secretary General of the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Eddy Martono said he was ready to support and respect the President's decision regarding this CPO.
"Gapki's stance is to respect President Joko Widodo's decision. We will also continue to monitor its developments," he told VOI, Saturday, April 23.
Eddy also asked all related parties to participate in monitoring the impact of this policy. Thus, if it turns out that this policy has an unfavorable impact, the government should immediately evaluate this policy.
Previously, President Joko Widodo, Friday, April 22, announced that the Government of Indonesia would ban the export of cooking oil and its raw materials, which will take effect from Thursday, April 28, 2022, for an undetermined time limit.
The decision was taken after chairing a meeting attended by ministers to discuss the fulfillment of the people's basic needs. This was conveyed by the President in a statement broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat.
"In the meeting, I decided that the government would prohibit the export of raw materials for cooking oil and cooking oil starting Thursday, April 28, 2022, until a time limit will be determined later," said the President.
This decision was taken with the aim of meeting the need for the availability of domestic cooking oil at a more affordable price. In addition, the Head of State also promised to directly monitor and evaluate the implementation of the policy.
