Ministry Of Agriculture Ensures Stock Of Staples In Medan Is Safe Ahead Of Eid

MEDAN - The Ministry of Agriculture guarantees that the availability of 12 basic commodities in Medan, North Sumatra will be fulfilled ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1443 H, although the prices for some communities fluctuate.

The twelve staple foods monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture in the face of National Religious Holidays (HBKN) in Medan City are rice, corn, shallots, garlic, curly chilies, cayenne pepper, sugar, cooking oil, soybeans, and foods of animal origin. , namely beef, chicken and chicken eggs.

"Availability is okay, still good, rice has the strongest resistance and earlier we saw chilies okay, onions and garlic too, there are eggs," said Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities at the Ministry of Agriculture Ali Jamil at Pasar Sei Sikambing Medan, reported by Antara, Saturday, 16 April.

Ali Jamil admits that community prices have increased, such as meat being sold for around Rp. 130,000 per kilogram, previously it was still Rp. 125,000 per kilogram.

"The point is in general (in general) 12 basic ingredients are still okay and still safe in Medan," he said.

The Head of the North Sumatra Province Food and Livestock Security Agency, M Azhar Harahap, on that occasion added that the availability of 12 basic ingredients is still sufficient for the next three months.

Therefore, he appealed to the whole community not to panic by buying excessive basic needs.

"In the next three months, there will be sufficient food availability, you don't have to worry about buying in droves to stock up at home. Don't panic buying, we can take out the stock at any time until June," he said.
