Coordinating Minister Airlangga Submits Annual SPT Report: Our Taxes Are Very Mean To The State

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said today that he has fulfilled his tax obligations in the form of an Annual Tax Return (SPT).

In an official statement, Airlangga revealed that regularly reporting annual tax returns is a form of love for the state because taxes are one of the largest sources of revenue in the state budget.

"Our contribution in paying and reporting taxes will be very meaningful for the country, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and support economic recovery efforts. I hope that what we do can encourage public awareness and compliance,” he said on Tuesday, March 8.

According to Airlangga, paying taxes is not only an obligation but also the right of every citizen to participate in state financing and national development.

"Let's improve our country's tax compliance, Indonesia's strong tax progress," he said.

For information, the reporting of the Annual SPT carried out by Coordinating Minister Airlangga simultaneously with several other high-ranking officials, such as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Minister of Finance, National Police Chief, and the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces.

This simultaneous reporting activity by the heads of ministries and state institutions is the initiative of the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani to provide a positive example to the public regarding their respective tax obligations.

“The responsibility for fulfilling the obligation to pay taxes, as a reflection of state obligations in the field of taxation, rests with the members of the community themselves. Let's carry out our tax obligations together for state financing and national development," concluded Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
