JAKARTA - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, encourages Keciput Village in Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung, to participate in the 2022 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) event. This is to encourage economic revival and creating job opportunities for the community.

Sandiaga explained that there are seven assessment categories in the ADWI 2022 event. The seven are visitor attractions or attractions, homestays, souvenirs, public toilets, CHSE (Cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability), digitalization and creative content, as well as institutional aspects of tourist villages.

"These seven aspects have been fulfilled by Keciput Village," he said in an official statement, quoted on Sunday, February 27.

The village, which is 21.4 km from Tanjung Pandan City, also has rich tourism potential and creative economy. These include Tanjung Kelayang Beach, water sport tour packages, releasing hatchlings, Belitung batik, trigona honey, various processed fish, and crafts in the form of woven bags and carpets.

"So the village community also gets the opportunity to provide additional income. It is not only big hotels that we need to bring in tourists, but also tourist villages that will become the locomotive of our economic revival and opening up employment opportunities," he said. Because of that, Sandiaga also invites tourism village managers in Keciput Village and managers from 68 other tourist villages in Bangka Belitung to participate in the 2022 ADWI event which targets the number of participants as 3,000 tourist villages.

"Register your village immediately at jadesta.kemenparekraf.go.id until March 31, 2022. Make a world-class tourist village, global competitiveness, and sustainable for Rising Indonesia," he said.

Sandiaga also advised that the tourism sector and the creative economy must be a just sector.

"So this tourism is not only for the upper middle class, but also for the lower middle class. The development of this tourist village is a program that is right on target, has the right benefits, and is timely and fair in distributing this sector as our economic revival," he said.
