JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Electricity (Gatrik) ensures that electricity needs are sufficient and reliable for the 2022 MotoGP which will be held in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Director of Electricity Program Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman Hutajulu, hopes that PLN will more intensively coordinate with PT Indonesia Tourism Development Cooperation (ITDC) as the organizer, ministries/agencies, regional governments, and other agencies to ensure that electricity supply in the entire Mandalika area is served reliably.

"PLN also has to ensure the feasibility of all electrical installations before they are put into operation," said Jisman in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 9.

To ensure the readiness of electricity supply and reliability in the implementation of MotoGP, he continued, his party has made a field visit to Mandalika on 2-4 February 2022. Jisman started his visit with a coordination meeting attended by the Directorate General of Electricity Team, Electricity Inspector, ITDC as the manager of the Mandalika circuit, and PLN.

"One of the things that determines the success of an event, both national and international, can run well is electricity. For that, we must ensure that the MotoGP electrical installation is ready," Jisman said.

During the visit, Jisman witnessed firsthand the electricity scheme and the Zero Down Time (ZDT) scenario that had been prepared by PLN. During the visit, a more detailed inspection was also carried out on the electrical power installation that supplies the Mandalika Circuit, as well as a back up readiness test using a generator and an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

"We appreciate the Zero Down Time scheme embedded by PLN NTB. This scheme prioritizes reliable electricity services that ensure safe electricity supply with layered scenarios supported by adequate technological components," said Jisman.

For the MotoGP event, PLN will supply the circuit through three main electricity lines, namely two lines from the Kuta Substation (GI) and one line from the Sengkol Substation. Two lines of Medium Voltage Cable Channel along 1,485 kms from GI Kuta and one line along 13.8 kms from GI Sengkol have been completed.

In addition, PLN has prepared supporting equipment, namely 18 units of generator, 19 units of mobile UPS, 11 units of transformer and 16 units of Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). Regarding personnel and facilities, 104 picket officers, 280 technical service personnel, 47 cars and 12 motorbikes have been prepared.
