Selling Steel To Europe, Pakistan, And Malaysia, Krakatau Steel Records Record Export Volume

JAKARTA - PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk is keen to export its products. In fact, 2022 has only been running for one month, this steel SOE immediately set a record for exporting steel products.

Krakatau Steel's total exports throughout January 2022 reached 63,731 tons. This record increased by 87 percent compared to exports in January 2021 which amounted to 34,022 tons.

"We took advantage of the opportunity for reduced steel supply in Europe during the pandemic to continue to increase export activities of Krakatau Steel. Exports in January 2022 were the largest export volume per month in the history of Krakatau Steel. The previous export record was in December 2019 of 56,398", said the Commercial Director of Krakatau Steel, Melati Sarnita, in a written statement, Wednesday, February 2.

After opening early 2022 by exporting to Pakistan, Krakatau Steel continues to export hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel to European countries, namely to Italy. This export will take place on January 30, 2022 from the Cigading port with a total of 30,000 tons.

Furthermore, Melati said that apart from exporting to Italy, at the same time Krakatau Steel also exported HRC steel and plate to Malaysia as much as 6,474 tons.

For the European region, Melati said, during 2021, Krakatau Steel has exported to several countries including Belgium, Spain, Germany, and Portugal. Krakatau Steel has also exported to Australia and Malaysia previously.

"This export program is part of supporting the government's program which wants to increase the export value of iron and steel in 2022. We hope that in 2022 Krakatau Steel can increase its sales volume for the export market", she said.
