Matahari Department Store Owned By Conglomerate Mochtar Riady Denies Millions Of Matahari.com User Data Leaks On RaidForums

JAKARTA - The retailer of the Lippo Group owned by conglomerate Mochtar Riady, PT Matahari Department Store Tbk (LPPF), has denied that millions of data from users of the Matahari.com platform were leaked and sold on RaidForums.

RaidForums is one of the sites often used by hackers to sell their hacked data. In Indonesia, RaidForums (RF) has been blocked by the government so it is necessary to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access them.

"We have checked internally, based on a thorough investigation, we did not find any leaks of Matahari.com customer data," said Corporate Secretary of Matahari Dept. Store, Miranti Hadisusilo in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, February 2.

Miranti said that the amount of data that was leaked and sold on the site did not match the data held by PT Matahari Department Store Tbk. In addition, his party also claimed to have carried out checks such as matching the sample data held with the site. However, they did not find a match.

"We do not have 46 million users in our database. We have also checked the sample data provided on the online link and the data does not match the data we store. We have also checked the network usage and there is no abnormal traffic as of January 31, 2022, " he explained.

PT Matahari Department Store Tbk also does not receive complaints or complaints of violations from its customers. Miranti promised that his party would protect customer data.

"None of our service providers has reported a breach and robust safeguards and monitoring have been put in place. We assure our loyal customers that they have no cause for concern," he said.

Previously, tens of millions of Matahari.com user data was allegedly leaked and sold on the RaidForums site. In the site, it is known that millions of Matahari.com user data were sold by RF members with the account name mstpce. The account only joined RF in January 2022.
