Smartfren, Sinarmas Group Telecommunication Company Owned By Conglomerate Eka Tjipta Widjaja Denies Wanting To Take Over DANA From Emtek

JAKARTA - The Sinarmas group telecommunication company, PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk (FREN) admits that there are collaborative activities with the DANA digital wallet. However, this was explained by the company owned by the late conglomerate Eka Tjipta Widjaja, in no way related to the acquisition.

Director of Smartfren Telecom Anthony Susilo denied the news regarding the planned acquisition of the DANA digital wallet from the ownership of PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK)

"The company has no plans to take over shares/acquire DANA. The company will always comply with the prevailing laws and regulations," he said in an information disclosure, quoted Thursday, January 27.

FREN claims to always comply with the provisions and regulations in the capital market sector related to plans or corporate actions to take over shares or investments by companies in other companies.

Furthermore, Anthin said, his party is collaborating with local and global service providers to support the Beyond Telco strategy. FREN focuses its existing resources on core business activities and seeks collaboration opportunities with companies that are experts in their fields.

"Regarding the collaboration with DANA, the company has made a strategic partnership with DANA. With this collaboration, the DANA application will be directly connected to the mySF application, making it easier for users to transact or buy Smartfren products," he said.

In addition, only through the DANA application, Smartfren starter packs are available with special benefits. Smartfren and DANA hope to embrace the digital generation and millennials while prioritizing cashless financial transactions.
