Government Seriously Handles Truck Accident In Balikpapan, Heavy Vehicle Operating Hours Tightened

JAKARTA - The government through the Directorate of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) took seriously the traffic accident involving a tronton truck and other vehicles in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan last Friday.

The Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Budi Setiyadi said that his party is currently building cooperation with the Police to resolve this case.

In fact, Budi has already taken steps to evaluate certain regulations regarding certain types of vehicles.

"We will evaluate the operational time of heavy vehicles," he said in a statement, quoted on Saturday, January 22.

According to Budi, the Ministry of Transportation will also closely monitor the mobility of goods transport coming from outside the city to enter the inner city area.

"Supervision will continue to be carried out on the transportation of goods that will enter the city area," he said.

Budi added that the aspect of the feasibility of transporting goods was also another main point that would be taken care of after the deadly incident at the Simpang Rapak red light.

"The KIR test must be fulfilled and the local government must ensure that the vehicles running are proper, safe, and safe vehicles," he said.

As previously reported, the traffic accident last Friday caused deep concern from various parties. It is said that the ill-fated incident began when several vehicles stopped at an intersection.

However, not long after, a tronton truck appeared that was traveling at high speed and immediately hit all the vehicles in front of it. As a result of this incident four people died and dozens of others were injured.
