Mahfud MD Opens Up, 11 Of Sri Mulyani's Subordinates Arrested By The Criminal Investigation Unit For BLBI Asset Begging

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD reported quite surprising developments related to the settlement of disputes over BLBI debts.

In a press conference held today, Mahfud revealed that there were individuals in the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) who were found to have abused their position to misappropriate the former's collateral assets. BLBI.

Unmitigated, he gave a signal that the person was allegedly working in an organized manner because the number of people suspected was about a dozen. He said the alleged perpetrators had been arrested by the Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) team.

"They have been arrested, if I'm not mistaken 10 or 11 people are now in the Criminal Investigation Unit," he said on Thursday, January 20.

According to Mahfud, the disclosure of the modus operandi of the robbers of state assets cannot be separated from the hard work of the BLBI Task Force.

“They did (the action) before the formation of the BLBI Task Force. After the BLBI Task Force was formed, all the documents were opened. Apparently, something has changed (not according to the original)," he said.

In detail, Mahfud explained that Sri Mulyani's subordinates came from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance. They were found to have falsified a number of collateral assets that had been confiscated by the state from obligors and debtors. Not only that, these individuals were also found to have transferred assets to other parties that should belong to the government.

However, Mahfud feels that this finding and firm action is not a disgrace. The reason is, the legal procedures that have been carried out prove that the BLBI Task Force has worked in accordance with its duties and functions in carrying out confiscation and securing state rights.

"It's not insulting for us, but rather an achievement because they did this before the task force was there," he said.

On this occasion, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs also said that as of Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:00 WIB, the BLBI Task Force had managed to record confiscations worth Rp. 15.11 trillion in the last seven months. Meanwhile, the target targeted in the settlement of the central bank bailout case is Rp110 trillion until December 31, 2023.
