Honda Car Sales Soar 15 Percent Thanks To PPnBM Incentives, Brio Is The Best Selling

JAKARTA - PT Honda Prospect Motor reports that throughout 2021 it has successfully recorded retail sales of 91,393 cars for the domestic market. The book was up 15 percent compared to sales for the 2020 period, which amounted to 79,451 units.

Director of Business Innovation and Sales of Honda Prospect Motor Yusak Billy, the encouraging results obtained during the past year cannot be separated from a number of important factors that determine this.

"Honda's sales in 2021 were supported by the performance of the Honda Brio, the launch of several new models, as well as the DTP (Government borne) PPnBM (Luxury Goods Sales Tax) incentive which effectively encourages the growth of the automotive market," he said in a press statement on Friday, January 14.

According to Billy, despite experiencing sales growth, his party was hampered by disruptions in the supply of components for production originating from global dynamics. This condition mainly occurs in the second semester of 2021.

“This makes our output a bit constrained. However, the situation began to improve at the end of 2021 and we immediately maximized production capacity to meet consumer demand which is still high," he said.

As a result, continued Billy, sales in December 2021 recorded an increase of 41 percent compared to November with a total of 9,908 units.

"We are also grateful that consumer demand is still very high until the end of last year," he said.

In detail, the Honda Indonesia boss explained that Honda's biggest sales came from Honda Brio with a total of 45,332 units or contributed 50 percent of total sales throughout 2021.

Meanwhile, the Honda HR-V 1.5 L also contributed 18 percent, followed by the Honda CR-V with 10 percent, and the Honda City Hatchback with 9 percent.

Meanwhile, for the 2022 period, the Japanese automotive manufacturer provides sales programs to consumers ranging from additional value to free maintenance costs.

"Consumers can also get bonuses in the form of free periodic maintenance fees to discounted prices for certain types," concluded Billy.
