Stimulating The Technology Sector, Conglomerate Anthony Salim Is Familiar With Several Businessmen Such As Eddy Kusnadi Sariaatmadja To Chairul Tanjung

JAKARTA - The increasingly massive development of digital technology has made a number of Indonesian conglomerates more diligent in collaborating. One of the conglomerates that is quite active in collaborating with other conglomerates in the digital sector is Anthony Salim.

Since last year, the Indofood boss is quite familiar with the Emtek Group owned by conglomerate Eddy Kusnadi Sariaatmadja. One of the closeness between the Emtek Group and the Salim Group is marked in a business development collaboration.

Last year, PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK) and the Salim Group collaborated in the technology sector. In this case, Emtek and Salim collaborate through their respective affiliated business entities. In this case, Emtek is represented by Grab and Salim through Indomaret.

Just for the record, Emtek has a 5.88 percent stake in Grab Technology Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Salim Group is the parent of PT Indoritel Makmur Internasional Tbk. (DNET) which is affiliated with PT Indomarco Prismatama, the holder of the modern retail brand Indomaret.

In the retail sector, Anthony Salim individually controls 25.3 percent of the shares of PT Indoritel Makmur Internasional Tbk (DNET), which is the parent company of the Indomaret minimarket network. As of December 31, 2020, there were more than 18,000 Indomaret outlets throughout Indonesia.

The collaboration between Grab and Indomaret is in the form of using the GrabMart application which can be used to shop and find the nearest Indomaret location to directly place an order.

Before there was a collaboration between Grab and Indomaret, the Salim Group and Emtek had even pledged to jointly explore the potential for collaboration in the digital ecosystem, in mid-August. This partnership opportunity is expected to create synergy and growth for both groups.

"The comprehensive technology infrastructure owned by Anthony Salim Group will support Emtek's flagship technology platform," said Emtek Group President Director Alvin Sariaatmadja in August 2021.

The Emtek Group and the Salim Group cooperate in the field of digital ecosystems. Not just collaborating with the Emtek Group, recently even the Salim Group also participated in the CT Group's corporate action belonging to Chairul Tanjung.

In this case, the Salim Group, together with Grab and Bukalapak, became the new shareholders after the rights issue of PT Allo Bank Indonesia Tbk (BBHI).

Meanwhile, the Salim Group was represented by its subsidiary PT Indolife Investama in the rights issue of Chairul Tanjung's digital bank. After the rights issue was held, BBHI was still controlled by crazy rich Chairul Tanjung through Mega Corpora for 60.87 percent.

Regarding the inclusion of the Salim Group in CT's digital bank, Salim Group President and CEO Anthony Salim said this was a good opportunity for the company. This collaboration allows the Salim Group to expand its business.

"We welcome the opportunity to become Allo's main strategic partner in building an ecosystem that provides credit services according to need and sustainable for fellow Indonesians," he said.

Prior to participating in the Allo Bank rights issue, the Salim Group owned a 6.07 percent stake in PT Bank Mega Tbk (MEGA), which Chairul Tanjung also owns. And apparently, the maneuvers of the Salim Group did not stop there.

Quoting Bisnis.com, KSEI's data for the October 6, 2021 transaction shows that there has been a change in the percentage of Indolife's share ownership in Bank Mega. Initially, Indolife's ownership was recorded at 422.80 million shares, equivalent to 6.07 percent as of Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

KSEI reported that Indolife added 25.85 million shares of Bank Mega. Thus, the current position of the Salim Group in MEGA is 448.66 million shares, equivalent to 6.44 percent as of Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
