JAKARTA - The largest stadium in Indonesia, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) has now become the new icon of Jakarta, which reflects modernization and collaboration. PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN is also ready to supply electricity of 5,540,000 volt amperes (VA) or the equivalent of 5.54 megavolt amperes (MVA) for the stadium located in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit for Greater Jakarta (UID Jaya) Doddy B. Pangaribuan said, to supply electricity to JIS, PLN together with PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) built a special distribution substation.
"With the establishment of this substation, the new icon of the capital city can operate optimally," said Doddy, in an official statement, Friday, January 7.
According to Doddy, PLN is very supportive of any development in Jakarta, including JIS, with sufficient and reliable electricity supply. In addition, PLN and Jakpro have established a good relationship, so that in the electricity coordination process everything runs smoothly.
"The coordination between PLN and Jakpro starts from the planning period to energize. In fact, we are also involved in every trial held by JIS such as testing the lights and sound system," he said.
For electricity during the construction period, JIS uses temporary electricity from PLN of 1,400,000 VA from 2019 until the end of December 2021. Temporary electricity is a service from PLN to non-customers who need electricity or to customers who need additional electricity within a certain period of time.
"Thanks to JIS for using PLN electricity during the construction period, this means that JIS construction is more environmentally friendly, free of air and noise pollution when compared to using a generator set," he said.
Getting a Greenship Platinum certificate, Doddy said, PLN is also ready to provide a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) for this stadium with a capacity of 82 thousand spectators. REC is an instrument that represents the attributes of new and renewable energy (EBT) for every Mega Watt hours (MWh) of electricity generated
produced by PLN's EBT generator.
By using REC, continued Doddy, JIS can prove that the energy they use comes from an EBT-based power plant audited by an international tracking system, APX TIGRs located in California, USA.
Doddy said PLN also provides the widest opportunity for people who need electricity for new installations, additional power, or temporary installations. Until now, the electrical power reserve in Jakarta is 29 percent of the electricity supply capacity of Jakarta and its surroundings.
"We strongly support the construction of JIS, of course in accordance with our capacity as an electricity provider, which is to provide an adequate supply of electricity and of course we are ready to maintain its reliability," he explained.
