Optimizing Services, Erick Thohir Will Form PLN Subholding

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir plans to establish a power plant subholding at PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN. One of the goals is to optimize business services to the community.

"We have a vision that we will form a subholding, if we remember that this is the first time PLN has a marketing director. Later we will conduct a subholding so that services to the community must be correct," he told reporters, Thursday, January 6.

Unfortunately, Erick doesn't want to reveal when the PLN subholding will begin to be formed and inaugurated. Even so, Erick said that the subholding of the power plant ensures that there is a single unit, but still independent.

"It becomes a unified grouping so that the transmission remains at PLN. But the industry in the power plant must be more independent. Moreover, this is an opportunity for us as a nation to be able to sell electricity abroad," he said.

Erick Thohir said Indonesia has a wealth of new renewable energy or EBT that other countries do not have. In fact, said Erick, several countries depend on coal exports from Indonesia for their electricity generation needs

"Many of our neighboring countries do not have electricity certainty based on renewable energy. We have water, geothermal, wind, have a strong enough area," he said. Furthermore, Erick said that many neighboring countries often contact Indonesia because they need additional electricity from energy sources. renewable. Therefore, he believes the subholding of this power plant will be a strength in itself. Because it can provide electricity to PLN and Indonesia but to neighboring countries.

"So today, our neighboring countries are starting to contact us to get renewable electricity from our country. This means that the subholding of this power plant will become its own power. Not only providing electricity domestically but also serving other countries," he said.
