Former Bukalapak Boss Rachmat Kaimuddin Will Fill One Of The 9 Empty Deputy Minister Posts?

JAKARTA - The resignation of Rachmat Kaimuddin from the position of President Director of Bukalapak raises many questions. The Indonesia Stock Exchange has again questioned the management of PT Bukalapak.com Tbk (BUKA) regarding Rachmat's resignation.

In the disclosure of information, quoted on Monday, January 3, IDX asked the electronic trading company three things. First, the reason for the resignation of Bukalapak CEO Rachmat Rachmat Kaimuddin, second about potential replacements, third regarding the impact on the company, which just went public and collected Rp21.9 trillion in public funds.

Receiving this question, BUKA Perdana's Corporate Secretary A. Saputro responded that there was no material impact that could affect the company's business activities and business continuity due to Rachmat's resignation. The other directors, namely Willix Halim, Teddy Oetomo and Natalia Firmansyah, remain in office and operate BUKA as usual.

"During the transition period and in the event that Mr. Muhammad Rachmat Kaimuddin is unable to attend, Mr. Willix Halim, who currently serves as a member of the Director, will act as the acting officer of the Company's President Director," wrote Perdana in his explanation letter.

The definitive replacement for Rachmat will be set in February 2022. This deadline is still an interim plan until a definite announcement from the shareholders is determined. Meanwhile, the reason for Rachmat Kaimuddin's resignation was emphasized because he would enter the government.

"As we stated in the additional information disclosure Number 279/BL/CORSEC/SURAT/XII/2021 dated December 29, 2021, the reason for the resignation of Mr. Muhammad Rachmat Kaimuddin was to carry out state service by working for the government," he said.

Will you become Deputy Minister?

This statement from Bukalapak management sparked speculation that a cabinet reshuffle would soon be carried out. The reason is that currently President Joko Widodo has provided 24 deputy ministerial posts in his government.

The addition was after in mid-December, the President issued Presidential Decree No. 110/2021 concerning the Ministry of Social Affairs with one of the updates there is a deputy minister post. Of the deputy ministerial posts, 9 of them are still vacant.

The posts are Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Wamendikbud-Ristek), Deputy Minister of Investment, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Deputy Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB).

The vacant Wamen posts are also in the Deputy Minister of National Development Planning (PPN), Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Deputy Minister of SME Cooperatives, Deputy Minister of Industry, and Deputy Minister of Manpower.

However, Rachmat Kaimuddin evaded the state duties mentioned in Bukalapak's letter. He did not explain in detail whether the task of the state in question was in the form of directors of SOEs, being ministers in the government of President Joko Widodo or other public positions.
