JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) targets the gradual implementation of the Multi-Lane Free-Flow (MLFF) transaction system starting in December next year.

"Our target (MLFF) is that it will be implemented starting in December 2022," said Head of Operations and Maintenance I of BPJT Galuh Permana Waluyo, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 28.

Galuh added that BPJT hopes that the implementation of the MLFF in full or in its entirety will be in September 2023.

"The steps leading to the implementation of MLFF are carried out in several stages, we will not immediately open all toll gates, but we try to continue to use existing toll gates to be used as free flow transactions or what we call Single Lane Free Flow (SLFF) for the piloting stage. later," he said.

BPJT plans to gradually implement the contactless transaction toll system starting at toll roads around the Jabodetabek area.

"Regarding how many toll roads will be implemented, perhaps we are still carrying out exercises, only there are some criteria that we will apply later but of course taking into account several things. Possibly in the early stages, we will try to do the closest to the criteria around Jabodetabek, said Galuh.

Of course, he continued, BPJT will update again when the socialization period relates to toll roads that the MLFF system will implement first.

"We want toll users around the area where the contactless toll transaction system will be applied, so that the risk of violations will be smaller," he said.

In his presentation, the Head of Operations and Maintenance I of BPJT conveyed a number of benefits of implementing MLFF, among others, eliminating congestion at toll gates so that there were no queues of vehicles.

Then the benefits of implementing MLFF on toll roads are also reducing pollution and carbon emissions, supporting the digitization of payments by opening options for all payment instruments.

In addition, another benefit of MLFF is the efficiency of toll road collection operations by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) with a guarantee that BUJT will continue to receive 100 percent of toll revenue.

Previously, BPJT would start testing the contactless toll transaction system, both Single Lane Free Flow (SLFF) and Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF).

Regarding toll roads that will be implemented by MLFF in stages, Head of BPJT Danang Parikesit said that this will continue to be evaluated. Most likely in urban areas, such as in Greater Jakarta and Surabaya.
