OJK: The Role Of The Team For Accelerating Access To Regional Finance Is Important To Encourage Recovery And Overcome Moneylenders

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) together with the government and financial industry players continue to improve access to finance for the public.

Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, said that the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) is very important so that it can reach all regions. This is because there is still a financial inclusion gap in urban and rural areas, namely 83 percent and 68 percent.

"TPAKD is very important in absorbing programs issued by the government to encourage economic recovery, such as the People's Business Credit (KUR) program to encourage the progress of MSMEs," he said in an official statement while speaking at the TPAKD National Coordination Meeting forum, quoted Friday, December 17.

According to Wimboh, the OJK also encourages innovations in financing the local community business sector, such as loans against moneylenders or the development of other KUR clusters.

"If there is a KUR cluster that has not been served by financing and its development, it can be submitted to the OJK. If there are people who have difficulty accessing financing, please let us know. We always try to help the needs of the community," he said.

Furthermore, the OJK and TPAKD will continue to develop digitalization programs for MSMEs starting from financing, coaching, promotion, and sales to further accelerate the progress of MSMEs.

Wimboh also asked for support from the central and regional governments to establish TPAKD at all district/city levels throughout Indonesia as an accelerator in order to encourage the availability and utilization of formal financial service products in accordance with the needs and capabilities of the community.

“The OJK continues to encourage the distribution of this KUR. Yesterday we met with banking leaders to discuss how to achieve this year's KUR target of IDR 285 trillion. And I am sure that by the end of the year that figure can be achieved,” concluded OJK Chairman Wimboh Santoso.
