There's Good News From Erick Thohir: SOE Leaders Under 42 Years Old Has Reached 5 Percent

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir stated that the target of five percent of young SOE leaders aged under 42 years in 2021 was achieved.

Erick in his Scientific Oration on Globalization and Digitalization at Brawijaya University, Malang, East Java, Saturday, November 27, said that the target of five percent of young leaders aims to provide opportunities for Indonesia's young generation.

"In BUMN, we have a target of five percent of young leaders this year. Thank God it was achieved," said Erick, quoted from Antara.

Erick explained that until November 2021, his party had appointed a number of young leaders who were under the age of 42, and had occupied strategic positions as leaders of SOEs in Indonesia.

According to Erick, the younger generation of Indonesia should be given the opportunity to become the leaders of SOEs so that they can work. However, the opportunity to occupy the leadership position of the BUMN must also be accompanied by qualified competence.

"Indonesia's young generation must be given the opportunity, but of course that opportunity can be achieved if they have the competence," he said.

A number of names currently occupying high positions in the BUMN include Viviana Dyah Ayu Retno, who served as Finance Director of BRI at the age of 42 and Arga Mahanana Nugraha as Director of BRI Networks and Services at the age of 40.

Then Soleh Ayubi who is 38 years old and currently serves as Chief Digital Healthcare Officer of PT Bio Farma (Persero). Previously, Soleh had a pretty good career in the United States.

In addition, Erick also gave an example of Muhammad Fajrin Rasyid who was appointed as Director of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk. Fajrin was previously the co-founder and President of Bukalapak.

"We can't just attract top leadership but also not the best talent. We have a commitment," he said.
