Don't Be Late, Only 2 Weeks Left! BCA Customers Must Immediately Change Magnetic Debit Card To Chip

JAKARTA - PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) asks customers to immediately exchange their debit cards or ATM cards no later than November 30, 2021.

On the company's official website, quoted by VOI, Monday, November 15, BCA announced that effective December 1, 2021, non-chip BCA debit cards, which include ATM cards and debit cards, will no longer be able to be used.

"Instead, BCA has prepared a chip debit card that can be obtained through BCA mobile, BCA branch offices, CS digital, and Halo BCA," the statement said.

BCA also explained that starting December 1, 2021, Bank Indonesia (BI) required the use of chip-based debit cards for all cards issued in Indonesia. By exchanging debit cards for chips, customers can also make online debit transactions to shop online, subscribe to music and movie applications, and buy game vouchers.

"Debit cards with chip technology are also safer, so they can reduce the risk of card data theft," explained BCA.

There is no charge for replacing a debit card to a chip. Especially for card replacement through Halo BCA, there is a card delivery fee charged for Rp20,000 or 1 US dollar or 2 US dollars per card, according to the type of currency of the customer's account connected to the card.
