On The Ambition Of Faldo Maldini To Become Regional Head

JAKARTA - After his intention to become a candidate for governor of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) ran aground due to age regulations. Faldo Maldini is now eyeing the 2020 Pesisir Selatan (Pessel) regional head election (Pessel). Even though the target in the Pilgub is hindered by regulations, it does not mean that Faldo's ambition just goes out.

Faldo continues to look for other ways to be able to advance to become a candidate for regional head in West Sumatra. The chairman of the West Sumatra PSI made a step forward as a candidate for district head of Pessel by registering with the Pessel Democratic Party. Faldo officially registered as a candidate for district head of Pessel at the DPC Democrat Party office on Tuesday, December 24.

Faldo was also rumored to have jumped the party again. Previously as a PSI cadre, he is now reportedly moving to the party led by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). However, this news was denied by PSI. The Chairman of the PSI DPP, Tsamara Amany, admitted that he knew that Faldo was running for the election through the Democrats. This is because PSI does not have a seat in the Pesisir Selatan Regency DPRD to be able to nominate Faldo as regent.

"It is only natural (if) Faldo builds communication with other political parties (in Pesisir Selatan) and registers through other political parties because PSI has no seats there," said Tsamara when confirmed, in Jakarta, Thursday, December 26.

Tsamara said that Faldo's advancement through other political parties did not necessarily indicate that he was leaving PSI. He emphasized that his party invited Faldo to run through any party. However, Faldo's position remains as the PSI manager. "Faldo's position remains as Chairman of the PSI DPW," he explained.

The former Jokowi-Ma'ruf TKN spokesman explained, initially Faldo wanted to run as Governor of West Sumatra. However, his steps were hindered by the minimum age limit. Then, PSI supported Faldo to conduct a judicial review regarding this matter to the Constitutional Court. But the lawsuit was rejected.

Tsamara said it was due to the support of many young people in West Sumatra and the increasing number of Faldo volunteers under the auspices of the Sumangaik Baru movement. So, one way of serving, where Faldo is old enough is through his village in Pesisir Selatan as a candidate for regent.

Faldo's ambition

Long before Faldo decided to run as regional head in West Sumatra, he also had time to run as a legislative member in the 2019 Election through PAN. As is known, the 2019 Election is a national simultaneous election and combines the presidential election (pilpres) and the legislative election (pileg).

At that time, Faldo was also mandated as the spokesman for the Prabowo-Sandi national winning body (BPN) from PAN. Even though he often appeared on television, attended various discussions and debates, in fact this did not have a significant effect on Faldo's electability. He did not qualify for Senayan. Then, he left PAN and anchored to PSI to advance as Governor of West Sumatra.

However, again, Faldo had to bite his fingers. His steps to become a regional head were hindered by regulations. MK rejects the lawsuit. Not discouraged, Faldo finally ran as a candidate for regent in Pesisir Selatan.

"A hug is so meaningful. There is hope to be left, about a better life, about preparing a more comfortable life for the next generation. If you want to support me, thank you, I am grateful," wrote Faldo on his personal Twitter account.

At this point, Faldo admits that he feels politics is like a journey. Some leave, some come. There are those who blaspheme, and praise. However, the feeling in my heart felt even more honed. "The plane starts with the ambition to fly, the bulb begins with the ambition to get out of the dark, and the car starts with the ambition to beat the speed of a horse. Then, what's wrong ?," said Faldo.

"I really appreciate the opinion of people who say I am too ambitious. Often times I think, yes we have to have ambition. Isn't everything we use today starts from ambition?" he continued.
