One Indonesian Crew Member of MV Tihamah Who Was Attacked in Yemen is Still Being Searched for

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that one Indonesian citizen who is a crew member (ABK) of the MV Tihamah who was attacked in Yemen is still being searched, along with confirmation from local authorities.

Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, the Director of Indonesian Protection at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heni Hamidah, said that the two Indonesian crew members of the MV Tihamah who were injured in the attack had received treatment and were safe and stable.

"Meanwhile, for another ABK, it is still not found and search and search efforts in the sea area are still being carried out intensively by the parties concerned," explained Heni, Thursday (13/8).

"This was confirmed through a note verbal from the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs that we received this morning," he said, answering news that the Indonesian citizen had died.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat continues to take the necessary steps to ensure protection for the crew members, including preparing facilitation for their return to their home country after conditions and situations allow.

Heni added that his party, together with the Ministry of Transportation, had a family engagement to meet with the families of the crew to "explain the handling and the current situation that was conveyed to the families."

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yvonne Mewengkang, said that the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, had made a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen, Afrah Al-Zouba, to discuss this incident.

The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs appreciated the Government of Yemen for its support to Indonesia in handling Indonesian citizens affected by this incident.

It is known that the MV Tihamah was attacked while resting in Yemen on August 11, 2026. The ship was carrying 11 crew members, consisting of eight Pakistani citizens and three Indonesian citizens.
