JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday criticized the Israeli government for trying to remove Palestine from the international community's agenda by triggering instability and new conflicts in the region, and vowed that Turkey would continue to defend the Palestinian cause on every platform.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ankara, President Erdoğan said that Israel's policy of occupation, forced expulsion, and seizure of Palestinian land continued to increase in the occupied territories.
"The goal of the Netanyahu government is to remove Palestine from the common agenda of humanity by taking advantage of the chaos and new conflicts in the region," President Erdoğan said, launching Anadolu (13/8).
"Whatever they do, they will not succeed," he said.
"The more they try to erase it, the more the Palestinian struggle will continue to grow in people's hearts," continued President Erdoğan.

Despite the intimidation and expulsion efforts, President Erdoğan said the Palestinian people remained steadfast, stressing that supporting Palestine is the common responsibility of humanity, especially the Muslim world.
President Erdoğan said that he and President Abbas discussed bilateral relations and the situation in all occupied Palestinian territories in detail.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their solidarity with attacks, violations, and provocations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Hebron and other places in the Palestinian territories.
"We strongly oppose provocations aimed at changing the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, our first qibla, and other holy sites," President Erdoğan said.
Turning to the Gaza Strip, Erdoğan accused the Israeli government of maintaining an uncompromising and aggressive stance despite international efforts and agreements, comparing it to what he described as a constructive approach from Palestine.
"We are facing an Israeli government that has made deadlock its policy despite all international agreements and efforts," he said.
President Erdoğan said developments had shown which side preferred an ongoing conflict and which side wanted peace, adding that the people of Gaza had clearly shown their desire and determination for peace.
He called for the conditions necessary to ensure security and begin the reconstruction of Gaza to be met immediately.
