JAKARTA - Turkey's largest defense company, Aselsan, on Friday announced that the precision-guided bunker-buster ammunition Tolun P - which they had just developed - successfully hit the target in a live fire test.
The ammunition was launched from the Bayraktar Akıncı unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), marking another milestone in the precision strike capabilities developed independently by the country.
In a statement, Aselsan said the 250-pound class guided ammunition demonstrated its effectiveness against reinforced targets, including armored and reinforced concrete structures, quoted from Anadolu (7/8).
Aselsan also released footage on social media showing the munitions hitting targets with what they described as direct impact.
Unlike conventional bombs dropped from the air, the Tolun P is designed to maximize operational efficiency by allowing multiple munitions to be carried in a single platform.

By using the Sadak-4T dual carrier rack made by Aselsan, platforms such as Akıncı can carry several Tolun P ammunition at the same time.
The electronic fuse can be programmed by the pilot from the cockpit shortly before launch, allowing for the attack of multiple strategic targets in a single salvo.
Aselsan stated that Tolun P was developed specifically to hit fortified underground shelters, command centers, and reinforced aircraft hangars.
Despite its relatively compact size, this ammunition combines a specially designed penetration nose section with high kinetic energy, allowing it to penetrate reinforced concrete up to 1 meter thick, according to the company.
This capability is aimed at increasing the operational effectiveness and deterrence of Turkey's unmanned aerial systems, while expanding the precision strike options for the Turkish Air Force.
It is known that Tolun P is one of several variants in the family of guided ammunition Tolun made by Aselsan.
Other versions include the laser-guided ammunition Tolun L, the electronic warfare variant Tolun EW, the guided ammunition Tolun F, the Tolun IIR equipped with an infrared seeker, and the Tolun S, which is the version launched from the surface.
Aselsan stated that the ever-growing Tolun family is designed to provide a variety of precision attack options to meet diverse operational needs.
