Pramono Threatens to Announce a Waste-Hoarding Company at Illegal Kramat Jati TPS, Will Impose Social Sanctions

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung threatened to reveal the identity of companies suspected of being involved in hoarding garbage at the illegal TPS Dukuh Village, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

The location was previously on fire and caused a firefighter to die while on duty.

Pramono said that the hoarding of garbage at the location was carried out by a group managed by the private sector and had occurred repeatedly. The pile of garbage that continues to grow is suspected to be one of the causes of the fire.

"So what happened in Dukuh, Dukuh Village, yesterday there was a death of our damkar officers, the main problem is indeed that there is hoarding carried out by the private sector. And it has happened several times," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, August 4.

The DKI Provincial Government, he said, will impose compensation costs on the group that carried out the hoarding. The government will also prohibit the location from being used again as a place to hoard garbage.

Pramono emphasized that sanctions did not stop at the obligation to pay compensation. If illegal hoarding practices continue, the DKI Provincial Government will announce the identity of the companies involved to the public.

"If it is still being carried out, besides that we will charge them, we will announce to the public about this company who is hoarding," he said.

According to Pramono, these companies collect waste from the hotel, restaurant, and cafe (Horeka) sectors, receive payment from clients, but illegally dispose of or store it.

He also prepared social sanctions against these companies by encouraging Horeka business actors to no longer use the services of waste managers who have proven to have illegally accumulated waste.

"We will publicly announce whoever did it and we will give social sanctions, Horeka can no longer assign companies like this," he said.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would tighten supervision of illegal waste disposal practices after a fire in a pile of garbage on Jalan Penggilingan Baru, Dukuh Village, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta, killed a firefighter while on duty.

The victim was the Head of the Cepu Group Regu Cipayung Sector, Andriyono, who died after being involved in a fire handling operation on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office, Marulina Dewi, said the location of the fire was not a Waste Disposal Site (TPS). However, the land has long been used as an illegal waste disposal site, leading to a buildup of waste.

The DKI Provincial Government considers that this practice can no longer be allowed because it has the potential to trigger fires, especially in the dry season.

"As of Monday, the Public Service Officer (PPNS) of the Environment Service and Satpol PP will investigate and investigate the location of the fire. Those who illegally dispose of waste will be subject to strict sanctions," said Marulina, Monday, August 3.
