Victim Drowned in BKB River Found Dead Floating in Season City

JAKARTA - A joint SAR team found M. Tomul Adi Kurniawan (19), a victim who was allegedly carried away by the current and drowned in the West Canal Flood (BKB), Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The victim was found dead at around 08.00 WIB.

The victim's body was found floating in a prone position in the Season City River area, about 1.5 kilometers from the location where the victim was allegedly drowned.

Head of the Jakarta SAR Office Desiana Kartika Bahari said that the information about the discovery of the body was received by the joint SAR team in the morning. The team then moved to the location and confirmed the victim's identity.

"On Monday (3/8), the joint SAR team received information about the discovery of a body under the Season City Bridge at 07.20 WIB. The team then moved to the location and at 08.00 WIB managed to identify the body as the victim who was in search of," said Desiana in his statement, Monday, August 3.

After being evacuated, the victim's body was taken to a funeral home to be handed over to the family.

Previously, the search operation was carried out by dividing the area into two Search and Rescue Units (SRU). The team carried out a search using rubber boats along the BKB River flow as far as 3 kilometers from the location of the incident.

The search was also carried out by land route with visual screening along the banks of the BKB River up to a radius of 5 kilometers from the starting point where the victim was reported to have drowned.

The SAR operation involved the Jakarta SAR Office, Tanjung Duren Fire Department, West Jakarta BPBD, Babinsa Duri Pulo Village, BTB Bazis/Baznas, ERT Rumah Zakat, IMANICARE, Mapala Mustopo, RMI, RAC, SAR MTA, and residents around.

"With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation was declared complete and all SAR elements involved were returned to their respective units," said Desiana.
