KKB Attacks Road Project Workers in Tolikara Papua Mountains, 5 Dead

JAYAPURA - A group of armed criminals (KKB) reportedly attacked road project workers from PT SHJ around Kanggime, Tolikara Regency, Papua Mountains, resulting in five people dying.

"Yes, there was a shooting incident that killed PT SHJ workers and currently the evacuation process is being carried out," said the Head of Information for Kodam XVII Cenderawasih, Colonel of the Infantry, Tri Purwanto, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 3.

Of the five people who died, four bodies were identified as the names of Arman Sibarani, Erlin Aritonang, Alfons, and Barengga.

"Three bodies were evacuated and are now at the Mulia Hospital, Puncak Jaya Regency, then one body was evacuated to Karubaga, while one body was reported to still be at the crime scene," said the police chief.

The attack on the PT SHJ camp was carried out on Sunday (2/8) evening while the victim was resting.

TNI and Polri personnel are currently pursuing the perpetrators to ensure that the security situation remains conducive and provide a sense of security to the community.

"There are 10 workers at the PT SHJ camp, three of whom are still unknown," said the police chief.
