JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to strengthen digital transformation as part of efforts to create shared value (value creation) with Danantara. Through the development of the merchant and QRIS ecosystem, BRI managed to record significant growth while strengthening the base of low-cost funds based on transactions, and expanding access to financial services for the community.
This performance is reflected in the growth of merchant and QRIS businesses until the first quarter of 2026. The number of BRI merchants increased to 323.7 thousand with transaction volume growing 26.5% year-on-year (year-on-year/yoy) to Rp67.9 trillion. Director of Network & Retail Funding BRI Aquarius Rudianto said that strengthening the merchant and QRIS ecosystem not only expands the transaction ecosystem, strengthens the collection of cheap funds based on transactions, and opens greater opportunities for business actors to develop.
According to him, this capability is in line with BRI's commitment as part of Danantara in creating value through increasingly efficient, integrated, and community-oriented financial services.
"Along with the increase in digital transactions, BRI continues to provide safe, easy, and reliable payment solutions for the public. To date, 98.9% of BRI transactions have been carried out through e-channels. At the same time, we are also continuing to strengthen digital financial literacy, especially in the use of QRIS, so that the adoption of non-cash payments is wider and able to support people's economic activities," said Aquarius.
Through the integrated payment system support and the acceleration step of BRIvolution Reignite, BRI also strengthens the funding franchise through the optimization of digital channels to build a more solid low-cost fund base based on transactions. This effort is carried out through increased acquisition and management of customer transactions, strengthening partnerships with merchants, and developing a payment ecosystem in various business segments.
