PROBOLINGGO - The Probolinggo City Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested two perpetrators of the murder of a silver human whose body was found behind a coffee shop on Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Probolinggo City, East Java.
"The two suspects who have been secured are initials NAS (27) and AH (28), both of whom are street performers from Yosowilangun District, Lumajang Regency," said Probolinggo City Police Chief AKBP Rico Yumasri as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 30.
Rico explained that the disclosure of the case began with the discovery of the body of the victim with the initials AWS (21), a human silver singer from Triwung Kidul Village, Kademangan District, Probolinggo City, behind Warkop Bu Maryam, Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Pilang Village, on Monday (22/6).
After receiving the report, the Criminal Investigation Unit together with the Inafis Team conducted an investigation of the crime scene, collected evidence, and examined a number of witnesses.
From the results of the investigation, the police led to the victim's colleagues, fellow human silver street performers. The officers then chased the perpetrators who had fled to Banyuwangi and Bali.
The pursuit resulted in the arrest of NAS and AH at a boarding house in Bangsal Village, Pesantren District, Kediri City, Wednesday (29/7) at around 15.00 WIB.
According to Rico, the dispute, which was influenced by alcohol, led to acts of violence. The victim was beaten repeatedly with bare hands.
"After the victim fell, the perpetrators again abused the victim using stones and asphalt chunks around the location until the victim died," he said.
The police also seized a number of evidence, including surveillance camera (CCTV) footage, clothes with blood stains, stones, asphalt chunks, and clothes worn by the suspects during the incident.
For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 458 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding the crime of murder, sub-article 468 paragraph (2) regarding abuse resulting in death, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
Investigators are still hunting for another perpetrator with the initials KA who has been included in the wanted list (DPO).
"We will continue to pursue one of the perpetrators who is still at large so that all parties responsible can be processed in accordance with applicable laws," he said.
