KY Finds Alleged Judge's Violations in the Andrie Yunus and Nadiem Makarim Cases

JAKARTA - The Judicial Commission (KY) has found allegations of violations of the code of ethics committed by judges of the first level court who decided the Andrie Yunus and Nadiem Makarim cases.

KY member for Judicial Supervision and Investigation Abhan Misbah said KY was actively monitoring the handling of the cases in the two cases, namely Andrie Yunus at the Military Court and Nadiem Makarim at the general court.

"So in addition to actively monitoring, there are also reports from the public about Andrie Yunus and Nadiem," said Abhan at a press conference at the KY building, Jakarta, Thursday, July 30, reported by ANTARA.

According to him, both reports have been received and processed by the KY. Both reports from Andrie Yunus and Nadiem Makarim are currently still in the further review stage.

"Indeed, our record so far is that there is a suspected violation of the code of ethics," he said.

He said KY would conduct further studies by requesting clarification from the parties concerned, whether it was the reporter, witnesses, or the judge who was reported.

Regarding when the parties will be summoned, Abhan said it could not be determined because it depended on the willingness of the parties to attend.

"Because this also depends on when we invite, call the reporting party or witness, yes sometimes there is one who can attend or up to two times can attend. So it depends on the information, facts that we previously examined," he explained.

However, Abhan continued, his party's work was certainly limited in time in following up on the report.

"It will be possible for us to complete whatever the final decision in the plenary forum of the KY," he said.

Regarding the alleged violations, Abhan said, for the report of Nadiem Makarim, his allegations were in accordance with the report submitted, namely there were 12 points of alleged violations. But to prove what his violations are, he is waiting for further clarification.

"If it's for Nadiem, if it's not wrong, it's in accordance with the report, the person concerned reported that there were 12 points of alleged violations. Only what is proven, there is but of course through the clarification process later," he said.

On Tuesday (6/7), former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim reported four judges of the Central Jakarta Corruption Court (PN Tipikor Jakpus) to the Judicial Commission (KY).

The four judges reported were Purwanto S. Abdullah, Sunoto, Eryusman, Mardianto. Meanwhile, Andrie Yunus reported the military judge who tried his case to the KY and the Chairman of the Supreme Court Supervisory Board of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday (19/5).
