JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi denied the claim of lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea who said that the search for Febrie Adriansyah must first obtain permission from President Prabowo Subianto.

Prasetyo said there was no legal mechanism that regulated that the search action against a person who was undergoing a legal process must have the president's approval.

"I think it goes back to the mechanism. I think there is no (mechanism) when the examination process is still in the president's approval," Prasetyo told reporters at the DPR/MPR Complex, Monday, July 20.

According to Prasetyo, the entire legal process must run in accordance with the rules and authorities of the law enforcement agencies handling the case.

In addition to denying the search permit mechanism, Prasetyo also asked that Febrie Adriansyah's figure not be associated with President Prabowo Subianto in the context of eradicating corruption.

This was conveyed in response to Hotman Paris' statement that called Febrie one of Prabowo's pride figures in efforts to eradicate corruption.

Prasetyo assessed that the statement was a personal claim and could not be associated with the president's attitude.

"We will return it to the legal process, yes. Don't also associate it with the President. We will completely return it to the applicable legal mechanism," he said.

He emphasized that the government respected all legal processes that were underway and left the handling of the case to law enforcement officials in accordance with their authority.

Previously, lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea stated that the search of former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah should first obtain permission from President Prabowo Subianto.

The statement was then responded to by the Palace through Mensesneg Prasetyo Hadi. The Palace emphasized that the legal process against anyone must continue to run based on the applicable rules without special treatment.

With the clarification from the Palace, the government confirmed that the handling of the Febrie Adriansyah case was completely returned to the applicable legal mechanism.
