JAKARTA - The United States military command said it launched its latest attack on Iran on Wednesday night.

The latest attack began at 19.00 GMT, the second wave of attacks on Wednesday.

"The attack targeted Iranian military capabilities used to threaten ships that freely pass through the Strait of Hormuz, an international waterway vital to global trade," the United States Central Command (US CENTCOM) said in a post on X, launching Al Arabiya (16/7).

US CENTCOM said its forces were seeking Iranian accountability for US President Donald Trump's directive.

Earlier on Wednesday, US forces launched a 90-minute attack on the Greater Tunb Island, citing CNN which reported the importance of several islands in March, including Greater Tunb, which is included in what a researcher called Iran's "defensive fortress".

The first attack began at 6 a.m. ET (10 a.m. GMT) and was completed at 7:30 a.m. ET (11:30 a.m. GMT), the military said.

Then, US CENTCOM said US fighter jets shot down and disabled a ship heading for Kharg Island in Iran.

The commercial vessel ignored several warnings while attempting to break the US-imposed blockade, according to CENTCOM.

"The ship is no longer transiting to Iran," CENTCOM said in a statement.
